What We have Learned:

We can’t fix ourselves. We tend to be selfish in our needs and wants and will rationalize and “self medicate” ourselves with various addictions. Pornography is no different than drug or alcohol abuse. We want to “numb” ourselves and please ourselves in a way that God forbids. It’s like we are in a boat in the middle of the ocean and thirsty. We believe our thirst is quenched by simply drinking all the water around us, when in fact will never have our thirst satisfied. We’ve also leaned that it takes time to transform ourselves from this dark place. It really is a new way to walk, to think, and to believe. As a person or a couple heals, there are many challenges to overcome. Each challenge needs God’s help for us to navigate through it, just as it says in Romans 5:3 “We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope”. If our hearts are indeed open to him, and if we abide by his truth, we will slowly transform into the child that he wants us to be. We need to pray, and pray often, and to seek God’s answers to our problems.

John 4:14 "But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life" NIV
